UC – Space Security

While transitioning from the government-dominated “Old Space” to the private sector focused “New Space”, old cybersecurity challenges are joined by a plethora of new concerns. From setting the stage and reviewing specific case studies to utilizing the MITRE ATT@CK-based SPARTA framework, you’ll see space security in a whole new light.

By the end of this UC, you should have a better understanding of and be able to:

  • Recognize the vulnerabilities introduced by “New Space” trends
  • Identify real-world space sector cyber incidents
  • Understand the unique requirements of spacecraft systems
  • Apply the phases of the attack lifecycle to space systems

For an amazing interactive learning experience that teaches how to build, design, and operate secure space systems by putting you in the driver's seat of a simulated satellite as attackers close in, check out the full-length Cybersecurity for Space Systems course at CT Cubed.

What’s an Upskill Challenge (UC)?

A UC is a CTF-style, bite-sized lesson from the JHT Team, our courseware developers as well as “friends” of JHT. They are meant to be short and to the point. UCs focus on a single tool or concept and are helpful in quickly providing useful skills that might be prerequisites for other types of educational content on the platform.

A UC should be 10 – 30 minutes of student time and have no VMs. There are quizzes to make sure that the content is understood.

Prerequisites for “UC – Space Security”

UCs assume no knowledge at all! They’re meant to be completely self-contained, so all of the answers are in the lesson. No outside research is required.
